Keysha Koy, glass beads, pendants, handcrafted glass work

Keysha Koy
Handcrafted glass beads,
pendants and jewelry.

My love affair with bead-making began by accident. When my husband Jason and I were traveling around the country in the late 1990s, we found ourselves in Boulder, Colorado, where we learned the art of glass blowing from a wonderful artist named Bruce. He taught us the basics, as well as a few special techniques, which gave us enough training that we were eventually able to start making glass on our own.

Now, eleven years later, I have a full-time business making glass beads. Not only do I absolutely love my "job," but I am able to support my family (Jason, two daughters, a dog and two cats) by melting glass over a flame. I spend the week involved in production and on the weekends, I load up the family in our RV, and we go to different craft shows to sell my beads. One of the most gratifying aspects of my work is being able to meet my customers--those people who find as much joy in buying my beads as I do in making them!

While I love creating beautiful things, I also like learning new things so that I can keep my ideas fresh. Two years ago, for example, I went to India where I visited local craftsmen involved in glass-making. I also am taking art classes at a local university, which has led me to incorporate other materials into my jewelry designs. All in all, I feel really lucky that my life’s experiences have enabled me to fulfill my passion for making beads.
